Origin
The British Shorthair is one of the oldest documented cat breeds, with roots tracing back to the cats of Roman Britain. The breed was refined in the late 19th century by English breeders who selected for a sturdy, round, and calm cat. The classic blue variety became so iconic that the breed was sometimes called the British Blue.
Today the British Shorthair is recognized by TICA and WCF and comes in several colors. Our British Shorthairs come from registered, health-screened lines placed with Virginia families through personally accompanied delivery.
Appearance, Colors and Patterns
British Shorthairs are medium to large cats with a broad chest, round face, full cheeks, and a dense plush coat that feels crisp to the touch. Their large round eyes are typically copper or gold. The body is solid and muscular.

Personality

British Shorthairs are indoor cats and do well in most homes. They enjoy a sturdy scratching post and interactive play, but they are not as active as some breeds. Provide a window perch for watching the world.
